Rolling mill and Roll pass design (basic af rolling )

We talk about Roll frame or Stand, we are actually  referring to a pair of Roll , Roll supported by Friction bearing and antifriction bearings and bearing supported a chock and chock supported in housing  and chock slide within Housing and chock open and close by screw

 Grooves pass available in both Roll top and bottom and some Roll gap available between two Roll , it is called nominal Roll gap

Passes & section 

Rough passes 

It Roll stand have big groove passes as Rectangulars,  Boxs,  Diamonds etc.

Intermediate passes 

It stand have mediums grooves passes as Ovels , Rounds 

Example:-

Finish passes 

It stand have small passes as flat, Rounds, Slit passes 

Example:- 

Passes deformation As Ovel to round,  round to ovel , ovel to flat etc
